Saw Bench

Hello all,
Well I've been a bit slow in postings again. So here it is my saw bench built for the Hand Tool School. Iam very happy with it I made the ripping notch wider than usual so that I can pick it up with one hand and not rake my knuckles.

Irwin No. 2 expansion bit

Hello Again,
My Girlfriend and myself were out antique shop browsing. I happened to find a Irwin No. 2 expansion bit in its box. It has the wrong spar cutter and is missing the large cutter the one that is on the bit will go out to 2 inches so I'm not to worried about it. found another on eBay in box w/large cutter and no spar cutter for $40. I'm thinking I got a pretty good deal for it at $15.

Thanks For Reading.

P.S. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Re-sawing Video

Here is a very amateur video. The sound is bad the picture is grainy and was done with no real thought behind it. In the video I am re-sawing a standard pice of 2x12 with a 8ppi rip saw I really should have used a 3.5ppi but I used what I had.

Google+ Hangout

If you see me on Google+ Hangout I will most likely be out in the shop planing or sawing away. Please drop in and say hi.

The other day I was edge planing a board with the Hangout up and running. Not the first time I've ever done that but the first person that ever dropped in was Stephen Shepherd. At the time I didn't even realize who he was (hope I didn't make an ass of myself). For those who dont recognized the name, Stephen Shepherd is the author of the Full Chisel Blog. Of which I've been reading for over a year now. The man is a wealth of information on hand tools and traditional woodworking. The hangout was very short (got a call that the honey do list was expanding) and filled with information. I really hope to get the chance to talk with Stephen again, now realizing who he is. Ill be picking his mind and taking his advice much more to heart.

Port Townsend is a no go

Well sorry for the long delay in posting. It turns out that work has inventory one of the weekends. But that gives me the opportunity to join Shannon Rodgers's Hand Tool School. Let me tell you that it is great very informative. He is also very responsive to questions usually replys to e-mail within 12 hours. I was lucky to get in before price changes and also got the holiday discount. I'm also participating in a sawing diagnostic which will most likely go into a lesson. With all the money I saved I ordered some new tools.
I shouldn't say this but I plan on publishing articles on each of tools or groups of tool.
Thanks for visiting

Practice practice practice

Not much shop time this week. I did get out and practiced some of the planing techniques out of "The Essential Woodworker". Think I am getting there but, I need to get out to the shop and do those exercises a lot more.

On another note I am going to try and get to go to some classes at "Port Townsend School of Woodworking". Most likely "Hand Saw Essentials" and "Hand Plane Essentials". That is if I can get the weekends off to go if not Ill have the cash to go get some tools and maybe even some wood.

Thank you for reading my ramblings once again.
